Conservation Techniques & Glazing
If your artwork requires preserving, Work of Art offers conservation and museum framing techniques which can provide the correct protection. If you use the correct backing materials, matboard and glass, your artwork or precious memorabilia can be preserved.
General air pollution, humidity, sunlight or artificial lights, can cause serious deterioration to art, prints, photographs and documents. Whether your artwork or objects are sentimental family heirlooms, or have investment value, Chris will use materials and techniques that will actively protect and extend the life and value of your possession.
We stock acid-free matboards to ensure your valued artwork is not damaged.
We also stock a range of UV rated glass which prevents fading or sunlight damage over the years. The special glass also offers anti reflective properties and amazing clarity.
These choices in glazing protection may seem daunting, but Chris will quickly guide you to the right choice based upon your needs and budget.
Canvas stretching
If you have an oil painting on canvas, or a photo printed onto canvas, we can stretch and box/float frame the artwork to suit your needs. It may be a keepsake from your trip to Asia or Indonesia, or a beautiful Aboriginal artwork and Chris will ensure a very professional finish by stretching the canvas and also framing it, if required.
We use top quality stretcher bars and Chris will ensure that the artwork is assessed before stretching to ensure there is no cracking or damage incurred in the process.
